The February edition of our The Adventurer newsletter leads with a Top Story that is tops not because it’s brand new, but because it’s truly our Top Story.
Let me explain. By far the most searched and read article on MYIA is, “Americans Homeschooling in Belgium,” which examines homeschooling as a viable option to local or international schools. Not only is it the most read article on our site, it’s the most viewed video on our YouTube channel (MYIAchannel), with well over 300 views since we posted it. We’ve made it our Expert Interview video this month, also.
If you’re considering the homeschooling education option, this article is must reading, and the video is must viewing.
For our February Adventurer Story, we travel to the ‘burbs of Stockholm, Sweden to meet Dee Forker, a 32-year-old Aussie who was born and raised in Rockhampton, north of Brisbane. She graduated from the University of Queensland with a bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy in 2004 and has been circling the globe ever since.
Dee moved to the trendy south Stockholm suburb of Södermalm in 2013 and opened Conscious Health Studio in nearby Kungsholmen to minister to the needs of Aussie expats and locals.
Destinations this month features an American who now calls Sydney, Australia home. Lauren Kicknosway is a 44-year-old Gen X-er who traded in her water- logged life in Seattle for the beaches and sunshine of Australia’s largest city.
Lauren’s love of living in foreign lands began in high school when she was an exchange student in Argentina. Her opportunity to become a full-time expat came when her husband was offered a job in Sydney.
After receiving a B.S. in neurobiology from the University of Washington and working in the field in Seattle, Lauren decided to hang up her lab coat in Sydney and work full-time on her very successful blog, “Sydney Moving Guide,” which helps other expats make the move to Australia.
To receive our newsletter, just fill-in your email address under Subscribe by Email in the right column of any page and click on Sign Up. It’s that easy. You’ll also receive the latest AVA blogs and articles automatically via email, if you don’t have time to visit the MYIA site frequently.
