According to web rating service comScore, nearly 90 million people in the United States alone will watch 1.2 billion online videos today. Cisco, the big Internet plumbing company, says online video users are expected to double to 1.5 billion and, globally, online video traffic will be 55 percent of all consumer Internet traffic by 2016.
A lot of eyeballs are hanging out at YouTube and other purveyors of video these days. That’s why we created our MYIAchannel for you.
Launched earlier this summer, the MYIAchannel features edited videos of interviews I’ve done with experts on a wide range of topics, from homeschooling to how to find a job abroad.
The interviews generally are 15-minutes long and contain lots of additional information that you won’t find in the article that is published on myinternationaladventure.com. Importantly, there’s nothing better than hearing the information you want directly from “the horse’s mouth.”
If you love video, you’ll be happy to know that we have big plans for the MYIA channel. First, we’ll continue to add more edited expert interviews. About 225 of you already have watched our homeschooling interview with expat Christi Opstrup and her kids in Waterloo, Belgium.
We also would love to have your videos on the MYIA channel. With the ease and quality of shooting video on smart phones, expats around the world are documenting their lives for friends and family. Why not share it with your fellow Adventurers? We’ve been getting lots of great expat photos from Morocco to India to Belgium. We would love to feature your video on our MYIAchannel, as well as in our Adventurer Videos feature on myinternationaladventure.com.
In the future, we also will begin airing Adventurer interviews on our MYIAchannel. These will be sourced from book interviews I will be starting soon. More on that later
If you want to submit a video, we’re not fussy about how you do it. You can send us an email from our Contact page telling us all about your video and providing a link to it. You also can click on the Contributors tab at the top of the home page or click on the “Share Your Adventurer Story” ad in the lower right column, both will get you to submission instructions.
