Singapore is located just off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula where the Indian Ocean meets the South China Sea just 85 miles north of the equator. It is separated from Malaysia by the Straights of Johor to its north and Indonesia’s Riau Islands by the Singapore Straight to its south. Highly urbanized, Singapore is slightly more than 3.5 times the size of Washington DC.
