Despite having a small domestic market, no natural resources and a small land area, Singapore has a highly developed and successful free-market economy based on its global competitiveness. The World Bank (2011) ranked Singapore as the best country in the world to do business. The country also ranked third in the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report.
