You may enter Germany for up to 90 days for tourist or business purposes without a visa. The 90-day period begins when you enter any of the Schengen group of countries (similar to the European Union). If you are traveling for any other purpose or if you intend to stay longer than 90 days, you must obtain a residence permit or inquire about the appropriate visa at the German Embassy or a German Consulate in the United States.
Germany is located in the heart of Europe and is bordered by Denmark to the north, Poland and the Czech Republic on its east, Austria and Switzerland just south, France in the southwest and Belgium and the Netherlands in the northwest.
