Your vehicles also must be modified to meet Japanese emissions and safety regulations. To import your vehicles, you must provide:

  • Original passport

  • Residence Card
  • Driver’s license
  • Original registration
  • Engine & chassis number
  • Purchase invoice
  • Car manual

Pet Regulations and Procedures

There are certain procedures that are set by the Japanese Animal Quarantine Service (AQS) regarding the importation of pets. The process takes a minimum of up to eight months before your pet is granted permission to enter Japan. Upon arrival in Japan, you will be required to take your pet to the AQS to undergo import quarantine for a set duration of time. During this process your pet is screened for rabies and other diseases. There must be an Advance Notification submitted at least 40 days prior to your arrival in Japan to inform authorities of your intention to import your pet, as well as the expected date of your arrival.
